Melissa Zrelack, EA, FCA, MAAA

Melissa Zrelack is a Consultant located in GRS’ Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. She has 25 years of actuarial and consulting experience with employee retirement systems and retiree health care programs, primarily for municipal retirement systems covering general and public safety employees.

Melissa’s work for her clients includes overseeing and presenting actuarial funding valuations, experience studies, funding projections, and accounting and State disclosures.  Melissa’s expertise also includes advising on alternative plan designs, such as hybrid plans, early retirement incentive programs and Deferred Retirement Option Plans (DROPs).

Melissa has extensive knowledge of Florida Statutes, including Chapter 175 and 185, as they apply to municipal pension plans.

She is also a subject matter expert in IRC §415 testing and compliance, as well as implementation of the accounting requirements of GASB Statements 67 and 68.

Melissa has served on the Committee on Professional Responsibility for the American Academy of Actuaries and currently serves on the Conference of Consulting Actuaries’ Public Plans Community Steering Committee.

Melissa has served as a speaker at the Florida Public Pension Trustees Association (FPPTA) Trustees School, client education seminars, and regional conferences on various topics, including actuarial funding of pension plans, Florida pension reform and GASB’s new accounting standards.
